Vin Diesel is Kaulder in The Last Witch Hunter.

Kaulder (Vin Diesel) has worked together with the Order of Axe and Cross for more than 800 years. The companionship was started when he and 11 colleagues in search of the Witch Queen (Julie Engelbrecht). Kaulder managed to kill her who cursed him with eternal life on her last breath.

The scene is then turn to modern world today in which Kaulder has built close relationship with 36th Dolan (Michael Caine). One night both have a chat, and Dolan dies in the next morning. He is then replaced by 37th Dolan (Elijah Wood). Kaulder discovers that 37th Dolan was killed by a witch. A powerful and evil witch. Kaulder has no clue but a sentence in Dolan’s notebook: Remember your death.

On his journey to get the truth and meaning of the clue, Kaulder has Chloe (Rose Leslie) helped him. However, Belial (Olafur Darri Olafsson), the man who cursed Dolan, is after them both. Apparently Belial has stolen the Queen’s heart that the order has in preservation. His mission is to bring the Queen back to live.

Belial is successful. It is now Kaulder’s second mission to kill her. Assisted by Chloe who happens to be a dreamwalker, Kaulder is now a mortal guy who fight against the Queen. Both are betrayed by 37th Dolan. He tried to kill Kaulder.

Compared to his other roles in Riddick the Chronicles or Fast Furious the Series, Vin Diesel tries to be more human and balanced. He highlights the importance of family-driven theme, a life, than 100% action movie. This movie is a quite low pace one. But, the mixture of drama, action and magic provides interesting scenes. Still, Diesel doesn’t want to lose his brand as sports car aficionado. You’ll find it in this movie.
